Construction Boom…

We are in the middle of a construction boom in Haiti! We’ve already built 9 new houses this year, and we have funding to build 11 more. And that’s in just the first two months of this year. How exciting!
Not only are families receiving new houses, but many workers are receiving jobs as they build the new houses. These workers have the dignity of working and providing for their own families. All of this is at the low cost of $5,885 for a new house.

This wonderful family in Thoman, Haiti received a new house a couple of weeks ago. In this photo, they are standing in front of their old house. The husband and wife are farmers. The have 8 grown children. One daughter and her three children live with them.

Educating Precious Children

Our five schools in Haiti (3 in Galette Chambon, 1 in Thoman, 1 in Mathias) are doing great! We have approximately 950 children who are sponsored for $37 per month. However, we have 1,861 children in the schools. The sponsorships are paying the salaries for our teachers and providing the food for all the students. We certainly don’t tell the non-sponsored children to sit to the side and watch the sponsored children eat. Including teachers, administrators, and other personnel, we are feeding over 2,000 people every day for lunch at our schools. Many of the children would not eat every day if it were not for the meal they receive at school.
Recently, we mailed a new photo book about our schools to all of our child sponsors. If you are a sponsor and haven’t received your photo book, please let me know at stanbuckley@butgodministries.com. We want you to know how much we appreciate your sponsorship and what a huge difference you are making in the lives of countless children and teachers.

The new photo book – truly God has done more than we could have asked or imagined!

From Mickie West, one of our missionaries to Haiti: “These are pictures of some of our seniors who are about to be the first graduating class of BGM High School! This has been YEARS in the making, and I’m praising God for the great work He has done in these young people’s lives. They specifically wanted me to express to their sponsors how deeply they love and appreciate you for believing in them and supporting them.”

Economic Development in the Miss. Delta

The final step in construction of our new Economic Development Center in Jonestown, MS is taking place this week. That step involves the completion of the parking lot as well as landscaping in front of the building. Upon completion of this final step, the Galmore Group will be able to move into the building, hire more employees, and expand their business. Then, we can also begin recruiting other job-providing businesses.

We are thankful for Zach Zettler and a mission team from First Baptist Biloxi this past weekend who did a great job providing landscaping for the new Economic Development Center.

Filming

Mark Rich, one of our Board members, is producing a documentary of the history of BGM for our 10th anniversary. It’s going to be great! God has done so much during our first 10 years that we have countless stories to share. This 30-45 minute documentary will debut at our special 10th Anniversary celebration on September 16, 2021.

Mark and one of his assistants preparing to film last week. Mark interviewed me for several hours as we talked about the origins of BGM and many of the “But God” events.

Our special 10th anniversary celebration for BGM will be on September 16, 2021 at First Baptist Madison, MS. We plan to have many of our Haitian friends in attendance as well as current and former missionaries.

More information to come, but for now, SAVE THE DATE!

Mission Trips

We are once again scheduling mission trips to the Mississippi Delta. We are limiting each trip to a maximum of 20 people, and we have a few other COVID restrictions. Click HERE to see what dates are available.
Regarding Haiti, we have not yet resumed mission trips. There are still challenges related to civil unrest along the main highway that leads to the two communities where we work. The communities themselves are very safe, but traveling there is more problematic.

Best Way to Help

One of the best ways to help is by joining our Givers of Hope. The Givers of Hope is a giving club within BGM in which people give the same amount each month. They give anywhere from $5 to $200 monthly.
It’s easy to sign up. Just click HERE. Also, for more information about the Givers of Hope, click HERE.
Finally, I ask for your prayers for wisdom and energy for our Haitian staff, our Delta staff, our American staff in Haiti and the U.S., and our Board of Directors.

Can’t Wait To See What God Does Next,

Stan Buckley

Executive Director
